Ukranian Psanky Easter Eggs
Learn this old world art form, giving homage to Ukraine and keeping alive their sacred traditions. It is a wonderful, intelligent skill, the materials are not terribly expensive, and can be used all season. Having learned it through her Eastern Orthodox church over 30 years ago, Karen will patiently take you through the process of "Writing Psanka" These impressive traditional Ukranian Psanky Easter Eggs are a Springtime favorite and a joy to create. They are beautiful and will last for decades. We recommend that you learn the skill first, then introduce it to your children. It is a very peaceful art form using bees wax, a candle flame, a kishka tool, dyes and fresh, clean eggs in a resist pattern to make these gorgeous patterns and colors. A Ukranian tradition dating back to ancient times, they are symbolic of faith and culture. Using written patterns applied with wax and then dipping in the richest, food-safe dyes, you will create these wonders. You can add to your collection every year, give them as gifts and present them to loved ones creating your own traditions.
